Description
Description
This Orthodox icon of the Holy Trinity follows the famous composition of the Old Testament Trinity. Three haloed angels, each holding a staff, sit around a table where the chalice rests. It is the visit of the three guests to Abraham at the oak of Mamre (Genesis 18), which the Church reads as an image of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Behind the angels you can see Abraham's house, the tree of Mamre and the mountain. The image is a gold and silver color metal relief: the golden robes stand out on a finely worked silver background, surrounded by a border of silver and gold foliage.
The icon is set in a dark wooden frame of 25 x 20.5cm. It stands on a piece of furniture or a shelf, or hangs on the wall. A beautiful icon for the icon corner, or as a gift for Pentecost, the feast of the Trinity, for a baptism or a housewarming.
