Three haloed angels, each holding a staff, sit around a table where the chalice rests. It is the visit of the three guests to Abraham at the oak of Mamre (Genesis 18), which the Church reads as an image of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Behind the angels you can see Abraham's house, the tree of Mamre and the mountain.
